Clarence "Huck" Veerkamp, Jr., 69, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana.
Born, March 7, 1941 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Clarence J. and Mary C. "Estell" (Thewes) Veerkamp.
Clarence graduated from Greensburg High School in 1959. He then joined the Marine Corps where he served from 1959-1963. He worked for BCA for 38 years. He also worked for Shelby Manufacturing and the Carol Cook Dress Factory in Greensburg.
Clarence was a member of St. Mary's Church. He was also a proud supporter of Greensburg High School athletics where he attended numerous games in most boys and girls sports.
Clarence is survived by 3 brothers; Chuck Veerkamp, Greensburg, Dale Veerkamp, Greensburg, Bob Veerkamp, Greensburg, 8 sisters; Mary Roseberry, Greensburg, Georgianna Veerkamp, Greensburg, Betty (and the late John) Hudnall, Shelbyville, Joyce (Marvin) Hahn, Batesville, Gladys Catron, Greensburg, Helen (Chauncey) Robbins, Pendleton, IN, Dianna (Sheldon) Roberts, Greensburg, Sharon Veerkamp, Greensburg, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Eleanora Bartholomew, 3 nephews; Loren Hudnall, Jeff Roseberry, Dwight Roseberry, and one niece; Pam Cummingor.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with a rosary service starting at 3:30 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating.
Interment and military graveside rites will be held in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to the Lukemia Society.
