Evelyn P. McNeely, 93, formerly of St. Paul, died at 3:40 PM Friday, July 1, 2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana. Mrs. McNeely was a homemaker and in earlier years worked as a telephone operator and at the Heritage House convalescent center in Shelbyville. She was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church in St. Paul. She loved to play euchre, bingo and enjoyed watching the Pacers and Colts. She also enjoyed spending time with family and especially her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Born in Shelby County, February 7, 1918, Mrs. McNeely was the daughter of Frank and Grace Brooks McAuliffe. She married William D. McNeely on August 18, 1945. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1991. Mrs. McNeely is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth (Robert) Wood of Columbus; granddaughters, Carrie (Eric) Hoppenjans of West Lafayette, Sarah (David) Blair of Boulder, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Merrin Hoppenjans; and one nephew, a niece and a grandniece. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Eileen Millison, Avonell Golden and a brother, Pat McAuliffe. Calling will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 2-3 PM at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will be conducted after calling on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 3:00 PM. Burial will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County.
