Martha Jean Koons

Martha Jean Koons, 74, of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg. Martha was born on November 14, 1936 to Paul Edward and Viola Edith (Weber) Hinds in Decatur County. Martha graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1955. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, and she worked for Odd Fellows Nursing Home for several years. She was married to Larry Edward Koons on October 1, 1982 in Bardstown, KY, and he survives. Martha is also survived by two sons; Jeffrey Alan Wilhoit, Greensburg, William James Wilhoit, Greensburg, two daughters; Deborah Jean Hurr, Aurora, IN, Connie Ray Asher, Greensburg, one brother; Donald Edward Hinds, Columbus, two sisters; Ruth Marie Miles, La Vergne, TN, Wilma Kay Detrich, Greensburg, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Dover officiating. Interment will be held in South Park Cemetery.
