Brayton Paul Deal, Sr., 95, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at The Waters of Batesville.
Born, May 16, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Perley Hall "Jake" and Minnie (Teske) Deal.
He was employed by Public Service of Indiana in Greensburg and then served as the Manager at the REMC in Greensburg. He was then self-employed and worked at Economy Electric Co. in Indianapolis retiring in 1982.
He was a 1933 graduate of Greensburg High School. He was a member of the Irvington Presbyterian Church.
Paul was a very active member of many organizations and served in the following offices: Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, President of the Greensburg Kiwanis Club, Exalted Ruler of the Greensburg Elks Club, Past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Greensburg, belonged to the York Rite, Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, and was a member of the Shriners Banjo Band. He was an avid bowler and golfer, having made a coveted hole in one.
He was married to Miriam E. Alsman on March 6, 1936 and she preceded him in death on May 11, 1997.
He is also survived by one son, Brayton Paul Deal, Jr. and wife Connie, Batesville; one daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Patton, Greenfield; one brother, Perley Deal, Saginaw, Mi.; one sister, Colleen Van Connett, Saginaw, Mi.; 14 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; two sons, Robert Lee Deal, James S. Deal; one brother, Raymond Deal; one sister, Pauline Seidel; one granddaughter, Barbara Deal.
Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Masonic Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg followed by funeral services with Rev. Gaylen Schwarz officiating.
Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children Hospital.
