Esther C. Wallpe, 90, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Born September 15, 1921 in Decatur County, Indiana, she was the daughter of William F. and Rose (Ricke) Raver.
Esther graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1940. She was a member of the St. Maurice Catholic Church where she was involved in many church activities. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella for over 70 years joining in 1942, a member of the PCCW since 1951, a member of the St. Maurice Community Homemaker Club since 1951. She had been a 4H leader for over 20 years. She enjoyed playing cards in her card group, she loved canning, freezing and gardening. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play in their sporting events.
She was married to Albert A. Wallpe on June 22, 1946 in Enochsburg and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1988.
She is survived by five sons, Stephen (Ruth) Wallpe, Greensburg, Philip (Jane) Wallpe, Greensburg, John (Lisa) Wallpe, Greensburg, Eugene (Nancy) Wallpe, Greensburg, James (Mary) Wallpe, Batesville; one daughter, Rose Ann (Adam) Rempe, Greensburg; one brother, Hubert Raver, Greensburg; two sisters, Dorothy (Stephen) Scheidler, Indianapolis, Roselyn (Maurice) Hoeing, Sandusky; 19 grandchildren, Dr. Mindy Wallpe, Megan Wallpe, Amy Yantiss, Lisa McKinsey, Stephanie Field, Nick Wallpe, Katie Rennekamp, Kyle Wallpe, Brian Wallpe, Rachel Wallpe, Kevin Wallpe, Matthew Wallpe, Brandon Wallpe, Jessica Wallpe, Jordon Wallpe, Sarah Wallpe, Alison Wallpe, Anna Wallpe, Evan Wallpe; 3 step grandchildren, Addison Rempe, Lindsey Krieger, Taylor Rempe; 4 great grandchildren, Jack, Myles, Lydia, and Andrew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one son, Gregory Wallpe; one granddaughter, Kelly Field.
A public rosary will be prayed on Friday at 2:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the St. Maurice Catholic Church in St. Maurice with Rev. John Geis and Fr. George Nangachiveetil officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Maurice Cemetery Fund.
