Rose Ann Sturgis

Rose Ann Sturgis, 87, Davenport, Iowa, went to Heaven on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Davenport. Born December 21, 1924 in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Charles L. and Mary Rose (Oliger) Wenning. Rose was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, friend, golf champion, and a very unique artist. She filled the hearts of so many people throughout her 87 years; the family will be celebrating her life and all the many memories they hold dear to their hearts forever. She was a retired beautician. She was a former member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg and the Greensburg Country Club. She was married to Robert J. "PeeWee" Sturgis on June 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1987. She is survived by her children; Kathy, Don, Joe, Jim, and Jane. Siblings; Louis, Leo, and Margie. Grandchildren; Robert, Hannah, Andy, Paul, Jen, and Mia. Great grandchildren; Jacob and Megan, as well as special friends; Claudine and Katherine. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers, Carl Wenning, Robert J. Wenning, Donald H. Wenning; three sisters, Vera Walters, Marie Kesterman, Betty Vandenbosch. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funerals and Cremations in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
