Betty Jo Shafer

Betty Jo Shafer, 82, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Morning Breeze in Greensburg. Born November 2, 1929 in Lancaster, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Loyd and Sally (Craig) Howard. She was a graduate of the Chicago School of Nursing. She had worked for many years at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. She had also worked for Dr. Shaffer and Dr. Domingo. She was married to Robert C. Shafer on February 24, 1947 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2004. She is survived by two sons, Larry C. (Kathy) Shafer, Freeport, Fl., Norman Shafer, Indianapolis; one daughter, Dianna Zapfe, Greensburg; two brothers, Donnie (Jane) Howard, Greensburg, Ronnie (Patty) Howard, Greensburg; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one brother, Tommy Howard; one sister, Mayme Welch. Visitation will be from 10-12:00 p.m. Friday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funerals and Cremations in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Vice officiating. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southcentral Indiana.
