Reatha Marie (Meer) Thompson, 58, Allen, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 in Allen, Texas. Born September 29, 1953 in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ralph J. and Carol (Sears) Meer. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1971. She then attended beauty school in Shelbyville and later became a stylist at the Osborne Beauty Shop in Greensburg. She was active was active in the St. Mary's CYO, taking part in the softball and volleyball teams. Reatha worked for the school systems while in California and was an assistant manager with Big Lots and Target in Allen, Texas. She enjoyed painting, crafting, knitting and making toys for newborn babies for family and friends. She was a caring person willing to offer help to anyone in need. She met Robert G. Thompson, a native Letts and a Navy veteran while he was on leave. They became engaged and later married on August 10, 1974 in Greensburg and they returned to California where Robert was stationed. She is survived by her husband; mother, Carol Meer, Greensburg; two sons, Robert Thompson, Allen, Texas, Matt Thompson, Dallas, Texas; one brother, Malcolm (Brenda) Meer, Greensburg; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary service will be held on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the New St. Mary's School.
