Bernice G. Wickens

Bernice G. Wickens, 93, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Morning Breeze in Greensburg. Born June 22, 1919 in Higginsport, Ohio, she was the daughter of Arch and Laura Glaze. She married Lt. Warren E. Wilke on October 19, 1940, who died in World War II on December 14, 1944. She married Hubert E. Wickens on October 11, 1948 and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1979. She and Hubert had six children. Survivors are Don (Sharon) Wickens, Roberta (Bob) McGinnis, W. Michael (Judy) Wilke, Adele (John) Corya, and Sallie Wickens. One daughter and son-in-law, Janice (Jack) Land preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Margaret, Mildred, Willard, and Thomas. One sister, Elizabeth Jacobson, survives. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Ann Curvin, Patricia McClendon, Mark Wickens, Susan Steiner, David Land-Clossen, Karen Land, Julie Hasselbring, Michael Wilke, Robert Wickens, William Corya, and twenty-six great grandchildren. Bernice was a long-time member of P.E.O, Psi iota Xi, the Greensburg Country Club, the Greensburg Presbyterian Church, and the Friends of the Greensburg Public Library. In accordance with her wishes, no public services will be held. Private burial rites will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Greensburg Public Library.
