Bertrand H. Luken, 85, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.
Born, February 26, 1927 in Millhousen, he was the son of Louis and Martha (Rolfes) Luken.
He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1945. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army. When he returned from the service he completed his apprenticeship in the bricklaying trade and was a member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craft workers Union Local 4 for 50 plus years. During those years he was partners in Picker & Luken Masonry. He was a member of the American Legion Post 129 and the Knights of Columbus. Bert also had served on the Greensburg Community School Board from 1968 thru 1976.
He met his true love, Mary Ann Eder and was married on June 10, 1950 and she survives.
He is also survived by four sons, Mike (Kandee) Luken, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jim (Patty) Luken, Greensburg, Bill (Carol) Luken, Indianapolis, Tom (Jan) Luken, Greensburg; one daughter, Linda (Dave) Reiger, Greensburg; one son-in-law, Mike McKee, Greensburg; one brother, Kenny Luken; three sisters, Marian Hunter, Dorothy Overpeck and Rita Burkert; sixteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy McKee; one brother, Carl Luken; one sister, Imogene Luken.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A rosary for family and friends will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana with military honors.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of South Central Indiana.
