Ruth Ann Schwering, 78, passed away on January 2, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Ruth Ann was born in Greensburg on November 17, 1934 to Herman and Rose (Oliger) Greiwe.
Ruth Ann married Ralph F. Schwering on October 4, 1958, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1991.
Ruth Ann was an excellent cook and for 37 years, she fed generations of kids at North Decatur High School. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Lawrence Auxiliary, the Daughters of Isabella, the Delta Theta Tau Sorority Alpha Alumni, and the Rural Couples Club.
Ruth Ann loved her family very much and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed square dancing, playing Bunco, going to the casino, and she loved to watch birds out of her window at home.
Survivors include 4 sons; Greg (Arleen) Schwering, Greensburg, Mark Schwering, Indianapolis, IN, Doug (Brenda) Schwering, Batesville, IN, Brian (Dawn) Schwering, Greensburg, 3 brothers; Dan Greiwe, Chicago, IL, John (Vicki) Greiwe, Batesville, IN, Charlie (Linda) Greiwe, Greensburg, and 9 grandchildren.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers; James and William Greiwe, and 2 granddaughters; Elizabeth Nicole Schwering, and Christian Schwering.
Visitation will be held at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2-6 p.m. A rosary service will take place before visitation at 1:30 p.m. followed by memorial service by the Delta Theta Tau sorority.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
