Geneva C. Land, 89, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born February 22, 1924 in Rush County, Indiana, she was the daughter of William J. and Mary (Niehoff) Herbert.
After graduating from Milroy High School, Geneva worked at Production Credit in Rushville. She then became a full time "Mom" while also helping on the farm.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was active in many church activities..
She was married to Loren Lee Land on September 1, 1945 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rushville and he preceded her in death on December 28, 1977.
She is survived by four sons, Ronald Leo (Marilyn) Land, Rushville, David Loren (Robin) Land, Milroy, Paul William (Kathy) Land, St. Paul, Michael Joseph Land, Greensburg; four daughters, Janet Marie (Hank) Herpel, Greensburg, Norma Jean (Richard) Schilling, Greensburg, Ruth Lynn (Stephen) Wallpe, Greensburg, Sara Ann (Tim) Volk, Greensburg; one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Land, Greensburg; one sister, Henrietta Land, Rushville; twenty four grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one son, Thomas Wayne Land; two brothers, Richard Herbert, Russell "Shorty" Herbert.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary service will be held on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Rushville.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund.
