On October 21, 2014 Bernice Loretta (Lamping) Menkedick passed away with loved ones by her side. She was born in Hamburg, IN on May 13, 1938 to Harry & Agnes Lamping. She married Harold Menkedick on November 27, 1958 in Hamburg, IN. She graduated from Batesville High School in 1956. She was a homemaker until 1990 at which time she and her husband opened Excel Electronics and Appliances. They operated the store until retirement in 2010. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister, usher, lector, marriage couple sponsor, and helped with funeral meals. She was a member of Saint Lawrence Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella, and Rural Couples. She helped at St. Mary’s School volunteering in the office while her children attended school there. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their many sporting events. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed sewing, and rooting for the Reds. She is survived by her husband, children Mike (Rita) Menkedick, Greensburg; Kevin (Kathy) Menkedick, Greensburg; Doug (Anne) Menkedick, Guilford; Phil (Lisa) Menkedick, Greensburg; Donna Wren, Fort Wayne; Chris (Jamie) Menkedick, Greensburg. Fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren with two on the way. She is also survived by sisters Anna Mae (Ambrose) Nobbe, Batesville and Julianne (Vernon) Raver, Oldenburg and brothers Herbie (Mildred) Lamping, Batesville; Rick (Sally) Lamping, Carmel; and Steve (Barb) Lamping, New Trenton and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by one sister-in-law Mary Ellen Menkedick, Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Mary Katherine Lamping and Thelma Grossman Litmer. A rosary service will start at 3:30 pm on Friday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. The Daughters of Isabella and the St. Lawrence Auxiliary will conduct services after the rosary and visitation will follow until 8pm. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, October 25, from 9-10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund.
