James R. Meredith, 75, Greensburg, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born, July 1, 1939 in Decatur County, he was the son of Carl Hagen Shaw and Mary Alice (Land) Meredith.
James had worked at Cyclone Fence for 8 years and then worked at Delta Faucet for 34 years as a supervisor and a foreman, retiring in 2003.
He was a Veteran of the Marines and was given the distinction as an honorary Navy Seal in 1958.
He was married to Patricia A. Cain on July 27, 1965 and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Boin Wayne (Tracy) Meredith, Greensburg, Jason Lee (Helen) Meredith, New Point; two daughters, Karen Sue (Kelly) Spears, Greensburg, Martha Marie (Mark) Turner, Greensburg; two sisters, Imogene Means, Nancy Balser; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 11 brother-in-laws; 6 sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judy Neal; 2 brother-in-laws; 1 sister-in-law.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Ulene Crawley officiating.
Interment with full military services will be held in the Union Presbyterian Cemetery in Decatur County, Indiana.
