Virginia E. Green

Virginia Ernestine "Ernie" Green went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2014. She was born August 3, 1927 in Jennings County, the daughter of Amos O. and Mable E. (Barnes) Donnell who preceded her in death as did her brothers, Forrest, Paul, and Gene Donnell and sisters, Dorothy Ashby and Mildred Kriete. She was married to Marion F. "Sparky" Green on January 28, 1943. They were married 52 years until his death on April 20, 1995. She is survived by three children, Darlene F. (John) Huntington, James (Debbie) Green, and Barbara (Dan) Bohart; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Melody) Wright, Joe (Carol) Wright, Julie (Mike) Erwin, Josh Green, Michelle Green, Travis Peters, Carrie Sizemore, Cassie (Mike) Pahl; 19 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren. Ernie has been very active her whole life until her illness. She was a homemaker and worked in the dietary department for the Greensburg Schools for 30 years. She was an animal lover, tended her flower gardens, had a passion for garage sales, vacations, and camping. She fit the adage 'Shop til you drop' and in general loved people, especially children. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Don Green, nephew of Ernestine, officiating. Graveside services will be held in the Union Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation.
