Daniel P. Lecher, 78, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Piedmont Henry Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Born, January 9, 1937 in Hamburg, Indiana, he was the son of Clem and Stella (Schebler) Lecher.
Dan worked for the Local 440 Union Plumbers and Pipefitters for 45 years, retiring in 1999. He also farmed and collected Allis Chalmers tractors.
He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Lodge.
Dan enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, watching sports, spending time with his family, making quilts with Betty, and vacationing in Florida for the past 16 years.
He was married to Betty Ploeger on January 4, 1992 and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Tim (Donna) Lecher, Greensburg, Don (Linda) Lecher, Greensburg, Jeff (Marilyn) Lecher, Greensburg; five step sons, Jeff (Donna) Moorman, Greensburg, Barry (Jill) Moorman, Greensburg, Scott (Kathy) Moorman, Fairfield, OH, Darrin (Pam) Moorman, Hamburg, Ted (Beth) Moorman, Greensburg; one brother, Tom (Barbara) Lecher, Oldenburg; two sisters, Thelma Harpring, Columbus, Arlene Feldman, Greensburg; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 17 step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elsie Hardebeck, Gertrude Horan.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary for family and friends will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Enochsburg with Rev. Bill Ehalt officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Enochsburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to the St. Catherine of Siena building fund, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.
