Donald Paul Meyer

Don Meyer, 76, entered into rest on February 23, 2015 with his wife, Kay, at his side. He was born on March 18, 1938 in Batesville, Indiana, son of Paul and Stella (Creech) Meyer. He attended Greensburg schools. On April 27, 1957 he married Kathryn Elizabeth Scheidler. They lived in Indianapolis were Don worked in the Hotel and Car Industries. They moved to Greensburg in 1972 and opened Don Meyer Ford-Mercury in downtown Greensburg. With the support of many great employees and loyal customers throughout the years, his business grew quickly and then was moved to its current location in 1976. Don will be remembered throughout the community and all over the world for his generosity. He was never without new crisp $2.00 bills to share with those who touched his life. He was known as "Diamond Don" to many friends. He was a member of the American Legion, Optimist, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rotary Club, and Eagles. He also had served in the United States Marine Corp. He leaves behind his wife, Kay, and 5 children; David, Sandy (Hoeing) and children Kristen, Alex, and Eric. Greg, Janice (White) and children, Brian and Sara. Debbie Hargitt, Clay and son, Chris Lee. Donna Tewmey, Chris and children, Nick Hadler, Scott Hadler, and Jennifer Grazione. Mike, Saundra (Lux) and children, Kevin and Kelly along with 4 great grandchildren. Don is also survived by one brother, Bob Meyer and wife Terry of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Sandra, sister, Rita, and grandsons, Mark Lee and Keith Meyer. Visitation will be from 3-6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 9-10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund or to the Our Hospice of Southeastern Indiana.
