Russell Floyd Benefiel, 90, Greensburg, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at his son’s residence in Greensburg. Russell was born in Greensburg on May 10, 1924 to George M. and Bessie M. (Brunner) Benefiel. Russell served in the Navy during WWII. He was a school bus driver, and he also worked in maintenance at the schools. He was a member of the American Legion Post 129 and the Eagles in Greensburg. He was married to Mary E. White on July 31, 1946 and she preceded him in death on September 18, 20014. Russell is survived by 3 sons; Robert F. (Connie) Benefiel, Greensburg, Billy J. Benefiel, Greensburg, Gregory A. (Heather) Benefiel, Burney, 2 daughters; Patti (Tom) Nugent, Greensburg, Barbara (Travis Mays) Benefiel, Rushville, son-in-law; Mike Cripe, 2 sisters; Lois Scroggham, Shelbyville, Frieda Bartlett, Georgia, 15 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter; Suzie Cripe, 4 brothers; Gerald, George, Paul, and Arnold, and 4 sisters; Dorothy, Helen, Alice, and Virginia. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Wenning officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 am until the time of services. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
