Michael J. “Hippy” Wolter, 56, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born, June 9, 1959 in Greensburg, he was the son of Charles B. and Frances (Hellmich) Wolter. Mike graduated from Greensburg Community High School in 1977 and then from Indiana University in 1985. Mike worked in Columbus as the manager of PayLess Shoes for 25 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both in Greensburg. Mike enjoyed playing golf and he was a former member of the Greensburg Country Club. Mike loved sports and supported many different teams including; the St. Louis Cardinals, IU, the Colts, and the Pacers. Mike’s biggest joy in life was spending time with his family. Mike went on many vacations with the family and had been to Las Vegas 2 times a year for the last 10 years with his brother, Steve. He was loved dearly by his nieces and nephews and will be profoundly missed by his family. Mike is survived by two brothers; Steven A. (Susan K. Farren) Wolter, Indianapolis, Tim (Kathi Sipes) Wolter, Westfield, three sisters; Cynthia (Daniel) Wickizer, Shelbyville, Sandy (Jeff) Richardson, Westfield, Judy Wolter, Westfield, 5 nieces, 4 nephews, and 1 great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Frances Wolter, and his step-mother; Ruth (Koetter) Wolter. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home with a rosary service starting at 3:30pm. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 17 at 1:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation.
