Virginia Rosalie Robbins

Virginia Rosalie "Rosie" Robbins, 90, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. Born February 15, 1925 in Decatur County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Erdo and Rosa Alpha LaVerne (Wolford) Hamer. Rosie graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1943. She then graduated from Indiana Central Business School in Indianapolis. After school Rosie returned to Greensburg and worked for Kocher Ford, then Cosmo's Candy Kitchen where she met Melvin. She later worked for Indiana Gas, Budget Loan and the Decatur County Treasurer's office. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church, BPW, Decatur County Senior Citizens, Pythian Sisters and the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as registrar for the Greensburg Lone Tree Chapter. She was married to Melvin E. Robbins on June 16, 1946 and he survives.. She is also survived by one daughter, Joretta (Ron) Headlee, Indianapolis; one sister, Maxine Brown, Sebring, Florida; three grandchildren, Shelley Post, David Headlee, Nicole Juday; six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Darlene Riley; one brother, James Hamer. Visitation will be from 1-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg and from 9-10:00 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Greensburg with Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
