Carl E. Wolter, 91, Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born, December 7, 1924 in Decatur County, Indiana, he was the son of Frank and Mathilda ( Gauck) Wolter. Carl graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1943. He was a veteran of the Army and served in the Korean War. After the war Carl worked on the family farm, the worked for Johnston Wholesale, and then worked at BCA, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in St. Maurice and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed and excelled in fast pitch softball. He also loved fishing, bowling, deer hunting, crossword puzzles and cryptograms. He is survived by one brother, Louis R. (Amelia) Wolter, Osgood; two sisters, Evelyn M. Kiefer, Westport, Thelma Grossman, Fishers; one brother-in-law, Hank Bicknell, Greensburg; two sister-in-laws, Marlene Wolter, Greensburg, Rosie Wolter, Greensburg; 31 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Norbert Wolter, Al Wolter, Ben Wolter, Martin Wolter; one sister, Dorothy Bicknell. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in St. Maurice followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Ehalt officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in St. Maurice. Memorials may be made to the St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery Fund.
