Edward M. Shafer

Edward M. Shafer, 78, New Point, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Waters of Batesville. Born, January 2, 1931 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Wallace and Martha (Montgomery) Shafer. He was retired after working several years at Mitchell Veneer and NTN-BCA both in Greensburg.      He was a member of the New Point Christian Church and the Eagles Lodge.  He was married to Mary Dugle on May 16, 1953 she survives.  He is also survived by one son, Charles (Marilyn Fry) Shafer, New Point; three daughters, Rebecca (Dale) Nobbe, Hamburg, Paula Shafer, New Point, Barbara Mauer, Muncie; one sister, Margaret Lozier, Greensburg; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Wallace Shafer, Jr., Lewis Shafer, Howard Shafer, William Shafer, Robert Shafer, Albert Shafer, Dale Shafer; one sister, Rose Aultman. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Mark Vice officiating. Interment will be held in the Rossburg Cemetery in New Point. Memorials may be made to the New Point Christian Church or to the American Cancer Society.
