Salvatore “Tudie” Navarra, 79, Greensburg, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
Born, June 27, 1929 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Salvatore Frank Sr. and Audrey M. (Foster) Navarra.
He was the former owner of the Tudie Navarra Ford-Mercury Dealership a Batesville. He received the Legion of Leaders Chevrolet Award as he was one of the top ten salesmen in the country. He had served on the City Planning Board and the City Appropriation Board. He served on the Planning Board for the Greensburg Adult Center.
He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Greensburg Jay C’s and the Sheriff’s Association.
He was married to Janett Hutchison on June 30, 1948 and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Greg (Anita) Navarra, Greensburg, Mark Navarra, Greensburg; one daughter, Debra Dinsmore, Greensburg; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Navarra, Greensburg; two sisters, Mary Jo (Richard) Dietz, Oldenburg, Barbara Hitchcock, Columbus; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John W. Navarra; one grandson, Chad M. Navarra.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary will be held on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating.
