Marie C. Harpring

Marie C. Harpring, 99, Greensburg, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born, March 25, 1909 in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Christopher J. and Lizetta A. (Nieman) Schroeder.   Marie proudly served as a 4-H leader for 17 years.  She was a member of the St. Lawrence Auxiliary, Know Your Neighbor Home Demonstration Club and volunteered with the Pregnancy Hot Line and Meals on Wheels. Marie was a lifelong member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg and served on the Bereavement Committee. She was married to Louis A. Harpring on August 16, 1930 and he preceded her in death on November 25, 1969. She is survived by two sons, Melvin (Roberta) Harpring, Greensburg, Rollin (Martha) Harpring, Greensburg; one daughter, Marlene (Harold) Harsin, Milstadt, IL;  7 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one brother, Elmer Schroeder. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.   A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
