Phyllis J. Johnston, 83, Greensburg passed away on June 23, 2016 at her residence. She was born January 29, 1933 in Letts, IN to Harry H. and Grace (Evans) Carder. Phyllis graduated from Sandcreek High School. She had previously worked for Mr. Ed’s Grocery Store and Johnsons Wholesale in Greensburg, and she provided childcare in her home. She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church. Phyllis was an avid quilter, a fabulous cook and pastry chef, and she was a great supporter of the Special Olympics. Phyllis was married to Wayne A. Johnston on April 3, 1955 and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2008. Phyllis is survived by two sons; Jeff Johnston, Columbus, Brad Johnston, Greensburg, two daughters; Jane (Chris) Luers, O’Fallon, MO, Jennifer Hayes, Greensburg, two sisters; Vannie Biddinger, Westport, Carolyn Brewsaugh, Greensburg, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter; Rebecca Sue Johnston, four brothers; Harry, John, James, and Donald Carder, and two sisters; Amy Lawson and Martha Shera. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7:00pm at Porter Oliger Pearson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 28 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home with George Willette officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Decatur County Special Olympics.
