Helen M. Garwood

Helen M. Garwood, 84, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Morning Breeze in Greensburg. Born January 19, 1932 in Muncie, Indiana, she was the daughter of John Wesley and Emma Lucile (Craigmyle) Raines.   Helen was a member of the Hope Community Church of God in Hope.  She was also a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a charter member of the Eagles, a volunteer at the Adams Volunteer Fire Department, and a lifetime member of the Conservation Club. She had worked for Human Services, Trackside Restaurant and North Lincoln Village as a cook. She was married to Jack R. Garwood and he preceded her in death on March 14, 1993. She is survived by six children, Bob (Mary Lou) Garwood, Sharon (Kenneth) Messenger, Jack Garwood, Sandy (Harold) Callahan, Steven (Marti) Garwood, Jeff (Peggy) Garwood; 3 step children, Ronnie Garwood, David Garwood, Danny Garwood; three brothers, David Wismar, Lloyd Wismar, Keith Wismar; one sister, Bonnie Isabell; 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one son, Donald Garwood; one daughter, Linda Schott; one brother, John Wesley Raines. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.   Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Gerald Hancock officiating. Interment will be held in the Hebron Cemetery in Adams. Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Animal Shelter.
