Alexander R. Veerkamp

Alexander R. "Alex" Veerkamp, 22, Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in an accident in Decatur County. Born, January 22, 1994 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Bob and Michelle (Diekhoff) Veerkamp.  Alex graduated in 2012 from South Decatur High School and he then graduated from the University of Northwestern Ohio in 2014 with a degree in agricultural diesel.  He had worked for Stone Farm Service as a mechanic.  He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Michelle; one brother, Grant Veerkamp, Greensburg; one sister, Vanessa Veerkamp, Greensburg; grandparents, Carl Veerkamp, Greensburg, Alfred and  Bernice Diekhoff, Westport; his girlfriend, Ciara Fasbinder; several Aunts and Uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Ellen Veerkamp.  Family and friends will gather at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home to pray the rosary.  Visitation will follow the rosary until 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
