Eugene D. Workman, 75, Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born, May 22, 1934 in Lake City, Calhoun Co., Iowa, he was the son of Everett D. and Pearl (Drake) Workman.
Eugene was raised in Adair and Casey Co., Kentucky. He moved to Hartsville, Indiana in 1949. He was a 1951 graduate of Hope High School and completed electrical and small engine courses at the Vocational School in Versailles.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He served 22 months at Hanau Army Base in Germany. He worked at Pittsburg Plate Glass (Knauf) in Shelbyville before and after his military service as an electrician. He joined PSI Energy on February 24, 1958 as a line serviceman and retired on October 1, 1993.
He was a member of the American Legion and a 35 year member of the IBEW local 1393. He was also a member of the Burney Baptist Church.
He was married to Reba Faye Shoaf on January 31, 1959 in the Burney Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Crenshaw and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Karen (Mark) Roszelle, Greensburg, Kathryn (Todd) Kelso, Greensburg; two brothers, Cecil Workman, Columbus, Donald Leon Workman, Hartsville; one sister, Anna Phillippe, Ft. Collins, Co.; five grandchildren; Hilary Roszelle, Heather Roszelle, Mitchell Roszelle, Jacob Kelso, Kayla Kelso; one great granddaughter, Ava Roszelle; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Buford Workman, Wayne Workman.
Visitation will be from 2-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Steven Workman officiating.
Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg with full military honors.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
