Denis G. Brown

Denis G. Brown, 78, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Our Hospice Facility in Columbus, Indiana. Born, October 8, 1938 in Lake County, Indiana, he was the son of George E. and Mary (Gallagher) Brown.  Denis was a 1956 graduate of Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana.  He joined the Marine Corps after high school and served until 1958. Denis worked for US Steel and then at KB Foods until his retirement.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge.  Denis served the Greensburg community by being a member of the Greensburg Municipal Water Board. He spent over 20 years with the Board. He was an avid sports fan, especially following the Indianapolis Colts, IU Basketball, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching his beloved Cubs win the 2016 World Series. He was married to Shirley L. Hash in February of 1999 in Las Vegas and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Daniel (Jennifer) Brown, Prescott, AZ, Douglas (Monica) Brown, Noblesville; one daughter, Deborah Brown, Batesville; four brothers, Carl (Stella) Brown, Portage, Tim (Patti) Brown, Portage, William (Cathy) Brown, Valparaiso, Thomas Brown, Las Vegas; five sisters, Barbara Badanish, Crowne Pointe, Peggy (Bill) Bruce, Moline, IL, Marilyn Wade, Hobart, Jean (Pete) Odinsoff, Valparaiso, Jane (Jon) Griffin, Valparaiso; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 6:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.  Memorial Services will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for the purchase of a portable defibrillator for the American Legion in Greensburg through the funeral home.
