Michelle Mcauliffe

Michelle McAuliffe, 95, of Greensburg passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Silver Oaks Nursing Home in Columbus.  Michelle was born in Westport on October 2, 1921 to Oran E. and Naomi (Lucas) McCullough.  Michelle graduated from Indiana University with a Master’s Degree.  Michelle worked at Purdue, she was in the nunnery for 26 years and she was a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at St. Mary’s School for several years before retiring.  Michelle was a published author of children’s short stories, she enjoyed writing and she was an excellent artist as well.  She was married to Robert W. McAuliffe on December 27, 1975 and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2017.  Michelle is survived by two step-daughters; Karen (Bill) McCart, Columbus, and Lucinda (Jim) Bray, Columbus.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister; Mary Jane Hoeltke. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. John Meyer officiating.  Interment will be held in the Westport Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Animal Shelter in Greensburg.
