G. Earl Taylor, 74, Shelbyville, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born, April 16, 1935 in Enfield, North Carolina, he was the son of Linwood and Hettie (Daniels) Taylor. He was a retired truck driver at the K.T. Corporation in Shelbyville. He was a member of the American Legion Post #70 in Shelbyville. He was a veteran of the Army. He was married to Joyce A. Robbins on July 18, 1957 and she preceded him in death on April 9, 1998. He is survived by his companion of several years, Betty Covalt, Shelbyville; two sons, Benjamin (Debbie) Taylor, Greenfield, Jonathon (Carol) Taylor, Shelbyville; one daughter, Bambie (Michael) Phillips, Washington Courthouse, Oh.; two brothers, Donnie Taylor, N. Carolina, Mike Taylor, N. Carolina; three sisters, Nancy Davis, N. Carolina, Elaine Dunn, N. Carolina, Viola Roberson, N. Carolina; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Gary L. Taylor and Richard Earl Taylor. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. George Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. The Shelbyville American Legion Post 70 will conduct military graveside services.
