Robert J. Wenning, 86, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. Born, October 5, 1923 in Decatur Co., Indiana, he was the son of Charles and Mary (Oliger) Wenning. He retired in 1986 from Bohn Aluminum. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg, the American Legion Post #129, Eagles Lodge, Knights of St. John and the Conservation Club. He was a veteran of the Army serving in the Korean War. He was married to Lucille Haskamp on August 30, 1950 and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Mark (Barb) Wenning, Greensburg, Stephen Wenning, Greensburg; one daughter, Diane (Jerry) Saler, Greensburg; three brothers, Carl (Ruth) Wenning, Osgood, Leo (Mary) Wenning, Arizona, Louis Wenning, Franklin; four sister, Marie Kesterman, Shelbyville, Rose Ann Sturgis, Iowa, Marjorie (Paul) Herbert, Millhousen, Betty Vandenbosch, Kokomo; 7 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Wenning; one sister, Vera Walters. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary service will be held on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. The American Legion Post #129 will conduct military graveside services. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church building fund.
