Mabel F. Kiefer, 96, Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born, November 2, 1913 in Grant County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Clifford H. and Mary Alena (Mahoney) Black. Mabel was a member of the Sandcreek Baptist Church, and the Forest Hill Home Ec. Club. She graduated from Butler University. She was a school teacher, and then worked as a cook for the IOOF Home in Greensburg. She was married to Lester Kiefer on December 24, 1937 and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1989. She is survived by six sons; Roy (Shirley) Kiefer, Greensburg, Charles (Betty E.) Kiefer, Greensburg, David (Betty J.) Kiefer, Greensburg, Jerry (Thelma) Kiefer, Greensburg, Clifford (Marianne) Kiefer, W. Lafayette, Joseph (Susie) Kiefer, Bloomington, three daughters; Nancy (James) Sallee, Greensburg, Virginia (Ron) Neely, Berkley, Ca., Susan (Bernie) Cinkoske, Speedway, one brother; Leonard Black, Marion, IN, two sisters; Ava Jones, Greensburg, Charlotte Speicher, Lafountian, IN, 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 9 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers; George and Robert Black, two sisters; Harriett Manship, Bertha Weaver, twin grandsons in infancy, granddaughter; Darla Sallee McQueen, and one great-granddaughter; Chelsea Griffin. Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1-2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Brad Douglas officiating. Interment will be held in the Milford Cemetery in Decatur County, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Decatur County, 1201 N. Lincoln St., Suite A, Greensburg, IN 47240, www.hospiceofsouthcentralindiana.org, and to the Sandcreek Baptist Church Missions Team.
