Alice M. Shafer

Alice M. Shafer, 85, Osgood, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Facility in Osgood. Born, January 20, 1925 in Kentucky, she was the daughter of James M. Hess and Mary J. (Crouch) Bruner. Alice worked with her husband for Paul Banker at the Greensburg Landfill. She was married to Howard E. Shafer on December 3, 1948 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1976. She was engaged to married to Danny Bill Carr of Westport. She is survived by one son, Howard (Carol) Shafer, Jr., Osgood; three daughters, Joan (Joe) Padgett, Greensburg, Kathryn Jeanette (Mike) Cook, North Vernon, Mary Alice (Tom) Voiles, Greensburg; 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Ernest Shafer; five brothers, William R. Hess, Walker Hess, Clayton Hess, James W. Hess, Ester Hess; two sisters, Della Jeffries, Mary Bryant. Visitation will be from 10-12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Gerald Sharp officiating. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
