Florence M. Stier, 94, Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Morning Breeze in Greensburg.
Born, May 8, 1916 in Lawrenceburg, IN, she was the daughter of Walter and Rosa (Shallenberg) Stephenson.
Florence graduated from Greensburg High School in 1934. She then attended business school in Hamilton, OH. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the St. Lawrence Auxiliary and the Greensburg Senior Citizens.
She was a former member of the Daughters of Isabelle and the AOA Sorority. She had worked at the Morris Store and G.C. Murphy's. She also had co-owned the Flamingo Drive-in.
She was married to Francis Stier on June 16, 1937 and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1980.
She is survived by one son, James Stier, Greensburg; one daughter, Jane (William) Badgley, Greensburg; 7 grandchildren,17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Fred Stephenson, Russell Stephenson; two sisters, Marie Beckett, Dorothy Zimmer; one daughter-in-law, Susan (Kutchback) Stier.
Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Decatur County.
