Joseph J. Mauer

Joseph J. "Joe" Mauer, 94, Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Morning Breeze Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born, December 4, 1915 in Decatur County, he was the son of Anthony and Elizabeth (Berkemeier) Mauer. Joe was a Maytag dealer for about 40 years along with being a farmer. He had attended Clarksburg high School. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Greensburg, and he was a member of St. Mary's Church in Greensburg. He was married to Theresa E. Kinker on May 27, 1943 in Camp Livingston, Louisiana and she preceded him in death on October 2, 2009. He is survived by two sons, Don (Cindy) Mauer, Greensburg, Kenneth (Judy) Mauer, Greensburg; two sisters, Hilda Grote, Greensburg, Mildred Mauer, Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Jeff Mauer, Todd Mauer, Chris Mauer; four great grandchildren, Rhett, Morgan, Brady and Brooklyn Mauer. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Norbert Mauer; two sisters, Christine Kramer, Pauline Muckerheide. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Monday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Monday prior to the visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Decatur County, 1201 N. Lincoln St., Suite A, Greensburg, IN 47240, www.hospiceofsouthcentralindiana.org. or to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School.
