Delbert Martin

Delbert Martin, 85, Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. Born, March 1, 1925 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Delbert and Mary Ellen (Sullivan) Martin. He graduated in 1942 from Greensburg High School. He then served in the US Coast Guard in WW II. He was in the American Area, European, African, Asiatic Pacific and Philippines Campaigns. He had been a salesman at the Keebler Co. for several years and then worked at Delta Faucet Co. until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #129 and the Eagles Lodge where he was a "Golden Eagle". Delbert enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a former member of the Greensburg Country Club. He was married to Norma Jean Harris on July 14, 1947 and she preceded him in death on May 5, 20078. He is survived by one son, Terry (Penny) Martin, Elwood; one daughter, Carol (Dale) Boing, Greensburg; five grandchildren, Rick (Emily) Martin, Melissa (Sammy) Mireles, Julie (Jon) Rin, Suzanne (Jason) Wessel, Sarah (Matt) Dixon; eleven great grandchildren, Sammy, Alex and Seth Mireles, Kayla, Kristen, Madison, Jake and Grayson Martin, Connor and Ainsley Wessel, Riley Jean Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Visitation will be from 12-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Wenholz officiating. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. The American Legion Post #129 will conduct military graveside services. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
