Colleen Jane Hawkins, 90, passed away on August 25, 2018 at Our Hospice in Columbus. She was born on August 8, 1928 in San Diego, CA to Edward and Vivian (Epworth) Gates. Colleen graduated from Bremerton High School in Washington. She worked as the office manager for her husband’s business, Greensburg Home Improvement, and for her son’s business, Clean Water, both in Greensburg. Colleen was a quilter for over 40 years and was a member of the Columbus Stars Quilt Guild. She was a volunteer for the Rainbow Center, the YMCA Pre-School, and was a member of the Friends of the Library, all in Greensburg. Colleen married Melvin A. “Red” Hawkins on June 16, 1946 and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2000. Colleen is survived by two sons; James (Lisa) Hawkins, Greensburg, Paul “Doug” (Deidre) Hawkins, Greensburg, two daughters; Christine (John) McEnhill, Grand Ledge, MI, Deborah Powers, Greensburg, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister; Jacqueline Portis, and great grandson, Timothy McEnhill. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home from 4-7 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home with Bill and Tammy Leak officiating. Memorial donations be made in Colleen’s name to Our Hospice.
