Donald E. Redelman

April 28, 1930 — November 4, 2021

Donald E. Redelman, 91, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Aspen Place in Greensburg. He was born on April 28, 1930 in Millhousen, IN the son of Rosa (Duerstock) Redelman and Joseph Redelman. He married Charlotte Saler on November 6, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Enochsburg.

Donald was a proud lifelong farmer on his family farm and his homeplace farm which he started farming at the age of 14. He also worked at his father’s sawmill in the early days of their marriage. Don would continue to farm alongside his son, Rick, until the age of 85, when he “retired” to be in the house more with his wife who needed his care due to her health.

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a proud veteran for his service to his country.

Donald passed on a strong love for family and a strong work ethic to his children. His loves were his family and his farming. He raised cattle, hogs, chickens, soybeans, corn, wheat, and always a garden for his family. He also enjoyed taking care of the pets on the family farm. He had a special pet, Rowdy, a blue heeler, for many years who helped him chase livestock and keep him company wherever he went on his four-wheeler.  He enjoyed watching western shows on TV, especially Gunsmoke.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Herb Redelman; sisters: Florence (Russell) Hillenbrand, and Dolores (Jim) Schumacher.

He is survived by his children: Dan (Candee) Redelman, Kathy (Pat) Kerker, Rick (Kim) Redelman, Ruth Redelman, Barb (Scott) Emery, Neice Redelman; sister, Mary Ellen Trotter; sister-in-law, Wilma Redelman; 10 grandchildren: Julie, Ashley, Kylee, Jordan, Brett, Brandon, Jessica, Jennifer, Joanna, Troy; and 18 great grandchildren.
