Dorothy "Dot" Stier

Dorothy (Dot) Frances (Gehl) Stier, 81, Napoleon, IN passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Aspen Place in Greensburg, IN. She was born on May 9, 1942, the daughter of Carl and Alma Gehl (Scherschligt) in Cincinnati, OH.

She was one of 6 children: Dolores, deceased (Richard) Wagner, Napoleon; Carl, deceased (Pauline), Greensburg; Phil, deceased (Ruth) Gehl, Napoleon; Marilyn (Carl) Buening, Greensburg; Paul (Arlene), Napoleon. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1960. Dot married the love of her life, Gary (deceased), on August 25, 1962. They were inseparable until Gary’s death on Feb 25, 2019. They inspired many couples and their families by the love they shared.

Dot was a homemaker and entrepreneur, starting her own greenhouse business and Past and Present Soap and Sundries business. She was a talented seamstress, crocheter, floral arranger, and creative crafter. She loved games of all kinds and spending time with her family. She also loved fishing, walking around the pond, reading, and keeping active, and loved the thrill of riding roller coasters. But, she especially loved tearing up the dance floor with Gary, her favorite dance partner. She was a very involved member of St. Maurice Catholic Church where she served as a cantor, catechist, Eucharistic minister, and marriage sponsor.

She is survived by her four children, David (Susan), Philadelphia, PA; Cecilia (Jerry) Rose, Batesville; Anita (Mark) Fry, Greensburg; Doug (John Glick), Napoleon. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Reece, Connor, and Spencer Rose, and Rachael (Rose) Bell, Adam, and Kalie Fry and Olivia (Fry) Geis, and Christian Stier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Dolores; brothers, Carl, and Phil.

A rosary service will start at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, followed by a visitation from 4-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, May 18, 2023 with an additional hour of visitation from 9-10 am at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon.
