Edward Donald Burns

Edward Donald Burns, 83, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 with his family by his side.  Ed, Don, or Dandy Don as he was called, was born on February 6, 1934 in Orlando, Florida, to the late Catherine Burns-Bockover and John Bockover. He attended New Point High School. Don worked for Robert and Dorothy Knoepfler at R.J. Knoepfler Company in Cincinnati for many years.  They became known to the family as Grandma Dorothy and Grandpa Bob.  Don ended up owning and operating R.J. Knoepfler Company for over 40 years and retired in 2005.  He had a love of servicing his customers and enjoyed any conversation concerning industrial paint finishing equipment.  Don was a 50-year member of the New Point Masonic Lodge #255, a member of the Scottish Rite, Greensburg Order of Eastern Star, and was over a 70-year member of United Zion Methodist Church. His hobbies included fishing, vacationing to the family cabin at Dale Hallow Lake, spending time with his family, and his beloved dog, Pugsy.  Don married Lou Ann (Wise) Burns on July 27, 1952 at the Greensburg Presbyterian Church, and she survives. Other survivors include his brother, Wiley Eugene Bockover, his eight children, Charlotte (Larry) Bailey, Patty (Jim) Luken, Margie (Phil) Poling, Jeff (Diane) Burns, Jim Burns, Kim Burns, Donna Burns, Dottie (Stephen) Gommel, all of Greensburg; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles (Rose) Bockover, Joseph Bockover, Gail Bockover, sisters, Lavonne, Faye, and Beryl; grand-daughter Rebecca Lee, and great-grandchildren John and Savannah Vanek, William Greg Rader.  Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. Funeral Services begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the funeral home with Joyce Barker officiating. Burial to follow at Rossburg Cemetery in New Point.  Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to The American Heart Association or National Kidney Foundation.
