George Wallace Granholt

March 4, 1931 — December 8, 2017

George Wallace Granholt, 86, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born, March 4, 1931 in Martinsville, Indiana, he was the son of George W. and Mary (Brown) Granholt.  George graduated with a Masters Degree at Indiana University.  He taught English and social studies at the Greensburg Community Schools from 1955-1993.  George was a tennis coach, swim coach , and co-coordinator of the "Light Crew" at the high school.  He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee.  He also served on the board of directors with Tree County Players, Decatur County Historical Society, Decatur County Parks and Recreation, and the YMCA. He is survived by his fiancé', Lois Carol McCormack, Greensburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and two Aunts, Mamie Granholt, Corda Granholt. There will be no public services by George's request.  Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Parks and Recreation or to the Decatur County Historical Society.
