Hershel Wilson

Hershel Wilson, 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Hershel was born, the son of James Madison and Dora (Fields) Wilson, on March 2, 1923 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.  He married Thelma L. Weber on December 8, 1945, and she preceded him in death on December 11, 2011.  Hershel owned and operated Wilson Brothers Implements in North Vernon for 32 years.  He was also a farmer for most of his life.  Hershel joined the Marines in 1942 and served his country during WWII for 3 years in Pearl Harbor.  He was a member of the V.F.W. and was formerly very active in the local honor guard.  He was a member of the First Church of God in Greensburg and the Greensburg Lion’s Club.  Hershel loved gardening and fishing in his free time.  Survivors include: daughter - Patricia (Arthur) Koors (Greensburg); Son – Harold (Jeanne) Wilson (Greensburg); Daughter-in-law – Cathy Wilson-Kramer, husband, Alvin (Greensburg); Sister-in-law – Mary Ellen Wilson (Greensburg); Grandchildren - Dawn Marie (Stefan Fleming) Dalton, Annette (David) Bowker, Andrea (Andy) Bell, Angela (Mike) Walterman, Lora (John) Miller, David (Monique) Wilson, Jeff (Rushda Afzal) Wilson, Brian (Jennifer) Wilson, and Wade Wilson; 17 Great Grandchildren, and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son - Dale Wilson, daughter – Roberta Witowich, great granddaughters – Breanna and Brittany Michael, great-great grandson, Theodore Arthur Koors, brothers – Elmer, Robert, Hubert, Russell, and Jack Wilson, sisters – Myrtle Baltus, Bertha Wilhoit, Edna Shoemaker, Jewell Glennan, and Lucille Stewart.  Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 25 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home from 1PM – 5PM.  Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 26, at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Terry Canfield officiating.  Burial and military graveside rites will follow at South Park Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Greensburg Bread of Life or the American Legion Post 129 Honor Guard.
