Jack Russell Garwood, Jr., 66, of Greensburg, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 in Indianapolis. Jack was born on September 7, 1951 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jack R. and Helen M. (Raines) Garwood. Jack joined the Army and served the United States in 1970. He worked for BCA in Greensburg for 33 years and was a landscaper for Gwinnup’s in Milroy before retiring. Jack was a member of the American Legion, 40 & 8, a Golden Eagle, Lifetime member of the Conservation Club, he volunteered for the Knightstown Children’s Home through the American Legion for over 30 years, and he was a member of the The Story Church in Greensburg. Jack is survived by his former spouse; Lena Garwood, three brothers; Bob (Mary Lou) Garwood, Steve (Marti) Garwood, Jeff (Peggy) Garwood, two sisters; Sharon (Kenneth) Messenger, Sandy (Harold) Callahan, 4 step children, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Don Garwood, and sister; Linda Schott. Visitation will be at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19 from 10am-2:00pm followed by funeral services at 2:00pm with Pastor Jon Porter officiating. Interment and military graveside rites will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Adams. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion or to The Story Church.
