James E. Manlief, age 80 passed away peacefully on Sunday March 24th, 2024, at Hospice Savannah in Savannah GA due to his advancing Lung Cancer. He was born January 25th, 1944, in Greensburg, Indiana to Harold & Marie (Schoettmer) Manlief.
Most of his young days were spent helping his family on their farm and attending catholic school. Once he was done with High school, he went on to enlist in the Navy.
The Navy opened so many new doors and allowed him to travel the world meeting new people and seeing amazing sites. If you knew him, he always had a story to share both from his many trips abroad and on the many Navy Vessels he was stationed on.
After serving 30 years in the Navy, he retired as a Machinist Mate Senior Chief and began his civilian life as a Military Mobile Machinist instructor.
During his journey, he found enduring love and companionship in Linda Manlief, who sadly preceded him in death on December 11th, 2023.
All who knew them knew how much they loved and cared for each other, now they’re together again forever and always.
James is survived by his son Jessie James Manlief, Niece’s Angie McEvoy, Paula Scheidler, and Grandchildren Shaela Brown, Slade Manlief, Jamie Hoffpauir Anessa Jones, and Jaeden Jones. Along with 3 Great Grandchildren Kelsey Hoffpauir, Garrett Hoffpauir and Dallen Manlief.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Harold and Marie Manlief, wife; Linda Manlief, two brothers; George Manlief and Cecil Manlief, and a sister; Eleanor Mae Ware.
James will forever be remembered for his unwavering patriotism, boundless love, and steadfast commitment to God and those he held dear. His absence will be keenly felt by all who were privileged to know and love him.
