Janice W. Bartels, 75, passed away on August 20, 2018 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital from a very short battle with cancer. She was born on March 13, 1943 in Danville, Indiana to Lester “Jimmy” and Fern (Ward) Wilson. Janice graduated from Danville High School in 1961, earned a bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State in Physical Education, and earned her master’s Degree from Indiana University. Janice worked as a bookkeeper, she worked for the Water Company in Greensburg, she taught physical education at JAC-CEN-DEL High School, she was a driver’s ed teacher for AA Indiana Driving School, she was former manager of TLC Thrift Store in Greensburg, and the Director of the AGAPE Center. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Greensburg. Janice had many friends in her life and would do anything for anyone. She is survived by her son, Jay Bartels, Greensburg, her former husband, Bob Bartels, Greensburg, and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Greensburg from 9-11 am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 am with Pastor Rick Bell officiating. A Celebration of Life will also be held in Janice’s hometown of Danville on a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Janice’s name to The AGAPE Center, the Greensburg High School Athletic Fund, or the United Methodist Church.
