Joseph E. "Joe" Hampton

Joseph E. “Joe” Hampton, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at his home. Joe was born on September 4, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of Richard E. and Mildred F. (Pool) Hampton.

After graduating from high school Joe went on to serve his county in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge Joe went on to work for BCA. During his time there, Joe earned an associate degree in engineering. After BCA closed Joe worked for NTN until his retirement in 2017.

Joe was a man who always had to stay busy. From cleaning the garage to washing his car he was always able to find something to do. In his younger years, Joe was an avid woodworker. More recently he enjoyed watching his western shows on tv and playing card games. Joe had always been a lover of food, especially his sweets. Joe will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Hampton; his daughters: Jennifer (Liz) Hampton and Sherry (Rodney) Carlisle; his stepson, Andy (Amie) Keeton; grandchildren: Jackson Hampton, Ella Hampton, Lucas Hampton; step grandchildren: Brayden Keeton, Chance Keeton; siblings: Jim (Cheryle) Hampton, David Russell Hampton, Vickie (Bob) Gilmore, Becky Sue (Bruce) Myers; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation for family and friends will be at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 12noon to 2:00pm. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Greg Redd will begin at 2:00pm, also at the funeral home. A private burial will be held in Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
