Melodi Miers Alessi

Melodi Miers Alessi, age 76, passed away at The Village Hospital in The Villages, Florida, on November 17, 2023.

She was born on September 10, 1947, the daughter of Morgan and Nansi Miers. Melodi was a 1965 graduate of Greensburg High School and graduated from Purdue University. She married Casper Alessi, Jr. in 1974 and worked as a Legal Secretary in downtown Indianapolis. In 2012, she and her husband retired to The Villages, Florida, where she made many wonderful friends and was active in the Purdue Club and Welsh Club. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed her many pets throughout her life.

Melodi is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Miers of Greensburg, her stepdaughters Nicole (Mark) Franks of Houston, Texas, and Jenifer (David) Barry of Shawnee, Kansas, four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren, along with several family members in Wales, and precious lifelong friends in Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her twin-brother, David Miers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Class of 1965 Fund at the Decatur County Community Foundation or to the donor’s choice. A private graveside service to honor and celebrate Melodi will be held at a later date.
