Ralph J. Burkhart, 84, of Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.  Ralph was born on May 11, 1933 in Decatur County to Raymond J. and Hilda M. (Thrine) Burkhart.  Ralph joined the Military and served in Germany during the Korean War.  He worked as a self-employed truck driver for most of his life.  He was the owner of B&R Metals.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 129 in Greensburg.  Ralph married Betty L. McKelvey on July 6, 1968 and she preceded him in death on May 7, 1990.  Ralph is survived by two sons; Steve (Tina) Burkhart, Columbus, David Menkedick, Pembroke Pines, FL, daughter; Karen Menkedick, Greensburg, three brothers; Richard Burkhart, Greensburg, Russell (Betty) Burkhart, Greensburg, Paul (Patty) Burkhart, Batesville, four sisters; Stella Vanderpohl, Greensburg, Thelma (Don) Greiwe, Greensburg, Rita (Larry) Dickman, Batesville, Margie (Bill) Eldridge, Napoleon, three grandchildren; Brittany (Nathan) Foster, Brandon Burkhart, Bryton Burkhart, two great grandchildren; Libby and Everett, and his special friend; Marcia Sisson.  Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Betty L. Burkhart, son; Gary R. Burkhart, and brother; Robert Burkhart.  A rosary will be prayed at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Friday, October 6 at 4pm followed by visitation until 8pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, October 7 at 9am with Rev. John Meyer officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice.
