Robert "Dale" Herbert

Robert “Dale” Herbert, 84, of Millhousen, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Dale was born in Decatur County, Indiana on July 6, 1939, to John and Viola (Fry) Herbert.

Dale married Maudie (Lee) Herbert on January 25, 1958. The two lived a wonderful life together until Maudie’s passing on June 6, 2017. Dale is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Dale worked his life in the lumber and sawmill industry. Dale took a lot of pride in what he did and the products he provided. In his spare time Dale enjoyed trap shooting, which he won many trophies/awards for, fishing, and golfing. Dale’s biggest joy in life though was his family. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Dale is survived by his children: Allen Herbert, Roger (Pam Powers) Herbert, Charles (Julie) Herbert, Mike (Missy) Herbert, Linda (Donny) Wise; 21 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren (with 3 on the way); 4 great great grandchildren; siblings: Vernon Herbert; Mary Ann Holt; Janine Stauffacher; and several nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maudie Herbert; children: Dewayne Herbert, Tommy Herbert, Alicia Muckerheide, Brenda Herbert, Cathey Herbert; and sister, Marleen Manlief.

A Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 3:30pm for family and close friends at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held following the conclusion of the Rosary from 4pm to 7pm, also at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen. Burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
